How the Pool Distance Calculator Works

Most competition math assumes a 25m or 50m pool. Real venues do not always cooperate. This tool handles any pool length — 30m, 33m, or anything else — and returns the exact AIDA-compliant Realized Performance.

Under AIDA rules, every centimeter below a full meter disappears. The distance does not round up. It does not average. It truncates down to the nearest full meter.

Example

An athlete swims 6 lengths in a 33m pool and stops 17.3 meters into the seventh length.

6 × 33 = 198 meters. Plus 17.3 meters = 215.3 meters.

AIDA Realized Performance: 215 meters.

The 0.3 meters are gone. The athlete swam them in good faith. The rulebook does not acknowledge them. This tool does that calculation instantly, so you are not doing mental arithmetic immediately after a surface protocol while the next heat is already warming up.

Applies to: DYN, DYNB, DNF
