How the Scoring Calculator Works
AIDA's penalty system in v17.8 is precise but not always intuitive — especially under competition pressure. This calculator automates the math for early and late starts, technical violations (PULL, TURN, START), and discipline-specific rounding for STA, DYN, DYNB, and depth events.
It is not a replacement for the official AIDA scoring software. Think of it as a learning tool for athletes trying to understand their cards, and a quick second opinion for judges who want to verify their math immediately after a dive.
All logic is based strictly on AIDA Rules and Regulations v17.8 (January 2025).
Key rules this calculator applies
- Early start window: 0–10 seconds before OT (penalty applied)
- Late start: 10–30 seconds after OT (yellow card + penalty)
- DQ Late Start: beyond 30 seconds
- STA rounding: down to nearest 0.2 pts
- Dynamic rounding: down to nearest 0.5 pts
- Depth rounding: down to nearest 1.0 pt
